Deja Vu

In 1998, I (Steve) turned over leadership responsibilities of the Bethany School of Church Planting (SOCP) to Pastor Eddie Longgat, a Bethany graduate who had been church planting for 6 years. Eddie was just 26 at the time. The school continued until about 2015 when circumstances led the leadership team to close the school. Naturally, we were sad as both Alberta and I had put a lot of our lives into the school.

To our pleasant surprise we were informed that the school has been re-birthed as the Bethany School of Ministry with 5 resident students and 12 enrolled in a mobile format, in which teachers will travel  to a central location of Bethany churches to hold a full day of instruction on a weekly basis. What is exciting for us is that Pastor Eddie Longgat (now 50) will be leading the school again! As our former students age, they have realized that they must be creative to train the next generation's leaders!

We salute the courage of Bethany's Filipino leaders in taking these steps in faith. We noticed in some of the pictures of the school's inauguration that there were some serious deficiencies in the school's resources and facilities (the kitchen/dining room has no walls 😲).

They have provided us with a list of items that would be a big help for them to get the school off the ground. Their list includes, cement blocks, cement, iron bars, gas burner for kitchen, classroom white boards, etc. Would you join us in giving the Bethany School of Ministry a good re-start? Of the $3000 the school needs, $1500 has already been donated. We have set up a donation page with Bethany USA exclusively for these renovations (called SOCP renovation fund after the original school). To access it click on this link:

Prayer Requests:

1. Praise! Heather flew to Atlanta Dec. 7 and will be coming with Krista next week. Pray for safe travels and a fun holiday together as a family.

2. Alberta got a request from her Equipping Women Int. hub group to join them for a strategic planning session in Thailand next March. Since we are planning a ministry trip to the Philippines in Feb/Mar 2023 we have adjusted her ticket to include this meeting. Pray for her extended travels and for their strategy sessions for the future of the Equipping Women Int.'s Asian hub.

Merry Christmas!

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
ps - we will send out a special email to let you know when we have reached our SOCP Renovation fund goal.
