Fifty Years and a Day

As I write this, Alberta is flying back to the US from Scotland. We have had a wonderful trip to Holland, visiting a number of Alberta's cousins. The gentleman next to Alberta in the picture, her cousin Jaap, told us he remembered the last time they saw each other - October 8, 1973, just over 50 years ago - during his visit to Canada to see his Canadian relatives.

Heather and her boyfriend, Spencer,  joined us for a few days in Amsterdam. It was our first time to meet Spencer in person and we enjoyed getting to know him.

We joined two couples we are friends with from Tennessee on a Baltic cruise for two weeks and loved the various cruise ports we visited. My (Steve) bag was lost in transit to Amsterdam from Boston and didn't show up until we had been on the cruise for 5 days so it meant a mad dash to the store the day our cruise departed to get clothing and toiletries for two weeks (the bag showed up when the ship was in Latvia). Fortunately the cruise line stepped in to help with the bag's return.

Alberta capped off her European travels accompanying Heather back to Scotland for some mother/daughter time. After an extremely hectic season of life for us, it was great to have some time away from our busy routines.

Prayer Request:

1.  Pray for Alberta as she gears up for a month of ministry with "Equipping Women Int." in the Philippines. She leaves Nov. 7 and returns on December 8.

2. Pray for Bethany's Isabela president, Edgar Tapaoan and his wife Jean, as they travel to the USA to visit Bethany headquarters and other family and friends. We will be hosting them Nov. 2-5. Pray for a strengthening of relationship between Bethany Philippines and Bethany USA.

3. Our Bethany member care department has been asked to teach in a course entitled "Member care in Cross Cultural Mission" for an online Nigerian Missions school November 13-17. Pray for us that we can put together the right course material on short notice.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
