Thai Floating Lantern Festival

The Li-Peng festival takes place in Thailand on the full moon of the 12th month of the lunar calendar (usually Nov.). According to Buddhist tradition, people rid themselves of their hatred, anger and sinful defilements by, figuratively, placing them on these mini hot air balloons that rise into the sky. The lanterns bear away the sin and sadness of people's lives. A reading of Leviticus 16 brings a similar example into view - a goat released into the wilderness to carry the sins of the people away - year after year. Please pray for the Thai people, bound  in a religion of works that can never save them.
During our recent member care seminar we had our own lantern ceremony on the closing night of our conference. However, the rising lanterns symbolized  the lifting up the Light of Life, Jesus. Pray that Jesus, the Light of the world, would be lifted up for all the world to see. Pray with us for God's kingdom to come among the Thai people.
