Barrio Santo Tomas Revisited

It was 1990-91 and our team had a burden to reach out to remote barrios like Santo Tomas in the rolling hills north of Cauayan. We drove as far as we dared in a two wheel locally made vehicle and walked in the rest of the way. In those days the Communist New People's Army was active in the area so we had to travel through military check points. This past Sunday I visited the Bethany Church in Santo Tomas and what a difference. No more check points and roads are mostly gravel now, making travel in and out year round. Some of the kids of 20 years ago had their own children in tow now, proof that when we bring the gospel to a village we have an generational affect on the life of its people and its community.
