Fit For the King

Back in 1994 Bethany held a seminar which introduced furloughing workers to the idea that people's physical health had an important impact on their longevity in ministry as well as their personal well being. Both Alberta and I have experienced "wake up calls" along these lines. My wake up call was in 1999 when we begain visiting workers all over Asia. From trekking in the highlands of Papua, Indonesia to climbing 5 to 6 flights of stairs several times a day in places like China and Japan, I became convinced I needed to heed the advice presented to us in our furlough seminar. Alberta experienced frozen shoulders back in 2008 (probably due to carrying a 30 lb. Moses around all day) and required therapy and exercise to bring her back to health. These days we regularly work out at Faith Academy's weight room and aquatic center when we are not traveling outside of Manila. Our desire is that we would extend both the quality and quantity of our lives. We endeavor to be "fit" for service of Christ our King for many years to come. Pray for our workers in Asia that they would be able to balance work, family, rest and health in such a way that they too will have extended productive and joyful lives.

Pray for our trip to Isabela this weekend and our time of ministry with Bethany Church of Gappal.

Serving Christ with You, Steve & Alberta
