Wheaton Happenings

After spending 25 years in Asia Alberta and I miss our Asian friends. However, day by day we are connecting with Asians wherever we go. In my Theories and Principles of Counseling class my professor is from India and his teaching assistant, Ram (pictured here), is from the Philippines. Ram hails from Tondo, Manila, a crime ridden area in the inner city. He oversees our counseling labs and has been a valuable advisor to our class. Wheaton seems to be magnet for international students seeking quality Christian education. I have classmates from Thailand, Korea and China.

Here is a trivia question to tickle your brain. Where is the "Wardrobe" located that inspired C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe? Answer: The Wade Center in Wheaton Il. One of the joys of studying here at Wheaton is having the opportunity to hear from visiting professors when lectures are opened to the entire student body. Here are some examples of lectures I've attended: "Manuscript, Mosaic and Modernity: How Scriptures Use Words", " The Bible, The Christian and the Border: How Should we Respond to a Stranger" and "C.S. Lewis, J.R.R . Tolkien, Wendell Berry and the Dangers of the Technological Mindset."
