Christmas Break Travels

On Dec. 10 Heather and Krista arrived in Chicago for their month long break from college in Tennessee. Our little apartment seemed to burst at times with the activity which included visits from former classmates of Faith Academy now attending Wheaton College.

Alberta's family in Canada planned a Dec. 25 family Christmas so we decided to celebrate our Christmas early and drive up to join the other 21 relatives planning to attend the Lubberts Christmas gathering. The car almost felt like home as we traveled together again.

Our second outing from Chicago was on January 1. We headed to North Dakota but had to overnight in Minneapolis due to road closures of two major interstate highways we would be traveling on. Arlo and Lorraine Eliason opened their home to us on short notice and Tim and Carol Freeman hosted us and our girls and some of their friends from the Philippines (see picture) for a Filipino meal.

For those of you not accustomed to serious snow fall (or any for those of you in the Rp :) yes - that is about 3 feet of North Dakota snow behind us in the picture! What you don't see is the temperature which reached -20 degrees F (-29 C).

Thanks for your prayers for our travels. Some of the roads were icy but we made it through ok. Pray for the girls and they begin a new semester ( Steve too) and pray that East Tennessee State University will finish processing Alberta's application to begin on line classes for her nursing studies. Also pray for Alberta as she heads to Honduras with a medical team that will be doing work among the poor January 15-22.

Serving Christ with You, Steve & Alberta
