Sobering Moments of the Global Member Care Conference

Thank you for your prayers for us during the Global Member Care Conference. We learned a lot and made many new contacts. As we began the conference our enthusiasm was tempered in learning one of the plenary speakers from Nigeria would not be able to attend. The news: he was involved in helping his denomination address the tragedy there that has cost the lives of 500 Christians in the last year. Later, as we broke up in small groups, one of our prayer partners mentioned a bombing in Lahore, Pakistan that had her co-workers there on edge. I checked CNN and sure enough - a railway station had been attacked. These updates and news flashes only served to underscore the importance of the conference we were attending. Effective member care is essential for Christian workers serving in increasingly hostile environments.

Thai Language Classes

With our India trip and the Global Member Care conference behind us, we are ready to begin Thai language classes. This is not Manila where English is widely known. Frustration from not being able to communicate is a great motivator to thrust us into the culture and language of the Thai people. Pray for us and our language teacher, Nong Phi, as we begin to work together.

Prayer Requests:

1. Krista is in finals week at Milligan College - pray for her as she finishes up her Sophomore year.
2. Krista will be working as director of creative arts at Sandy Hill Camp this summer. Pray for her as she heads to Maryland mid-month to plan out activities.
3. Heather has been working part time as an editor for a home-school publishing company while she audited a desk top publishing class at Milligan. Pray that her job will become full time as the class finishes up.

Serving Christ with You, Steve & Alberta
