Hospital --ity

Ruth is next to Alberta

This past week our pastoral care ministry switched into hospitality support mode. First some background info: back in 1985 two of my (Steve's) classmates from Bible school (a married couple) were murdered in the Philippines. In 2005 the man's brother, Paul, came to the Philippines for a memorial service and we met. Now, Paul and his wife Ruth, are preparing for an extended period of overseas service. After a month in India, Ruth came down with giardia, an intestinal parasite, and was hospitalized here in Chiang Mai. After she was discharged, she joined us in our condo to build her strength up while her husband continued on an outreach in northern Thailand.

Remy
Meanwhile, Remy our long time friend from the Philippines, was admitted to hospital to regulate the viscosity of her blood. We have been running her supplies and visiting her until her release yesterday. It's a privilege to have been able to care for these people while they are far from their familiar homes.

Praise Report:

Heather and Krista wanted us to thank you for your prayers for their employment this summer. God has provided them a job doing graphics/design projects for a fairly large church in Johnson City. They can work at their own pace and have enough work for the summer. Thanks for praying!

Prayer Requests:

Steve has been asked to be on the board of trustees of a counseling center called "The Well". Pray for wisdom as we connect more deeply in the Chiang Mai community.

We, together with the other Regional Member Care Coordinator couple for team, are planning a training for  our member care facilitaors thoughout Asia. Pray this would come together and we'd have a good turn out. More about that later.

Pray for Krista as she works on her drivers license - its an exciting time in her life!

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
