Will You Still Need Me, Will You Still Feed Me, When I'm 64?
(BTW, She said Yes!) I know I'm dating myself by referencing an old Beatles song but at this age (64) it's pretty obvious.
We celebrated my birthday in the midst of an annual retreat for Christian workers who exit their 'creative access' country because it would be a security risk for them to meet together there. They preferred that we not publish pictures of our time together but there was one exception. Black Bart (BB for short) (not his real name) consented through his mom to have his picture taken in disguise. What a sweetie this guy was!
Thanks so much for your prayers for the opportunity I (Steve) had to speak to the group. I often second guess my preparations but when the time came to share on doubts and discouragement I sensed the Holy Spirit's guidance. Alberta and I had a number of great conversations and opportunities to give counsel to to those seeking it.
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for our 'scouting out the land' trip to Myanmar (Jan. 23-26). We are accompanying leaders from our organization in the USA to examine strategies for sending workers into this country. We are along to evaluate the member care challenges to new Christian workers getting established in a country that has been closed to the outside world for the past 50 years.
2. Pray for us as we connect the dots of our furlough travels. We want to be available as widely as possible to share about extending God's Kingdom to the ends of the earth and the ministry God has called us to within that broader purpose.
3. Pray for Krista and Heather as they pursue employment/career opportunities.
Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
