String Hoppers and Synergy

How string hoppers got its English name is a bit of a mystery but we were glad this favorite Sri Lankan dish didn't 'hop' onto our plates! String hoppers are clumps of steamed rice noodles that make a delightful substitute for rice when eaten with curries and stews. The synergy developed as Christian workers from India and Sri Lanka gathered for their annual conference to discuss strategies for strengthening national leaders in an increasingly challenging religious environment. Sri Lanka is primarily budhist while the bulk of Indians follow hindooism.
We shared from the Word to our brothers and sisters in Christ to strengthen them and remind them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the kingdom of God. Christian workers need to develop an understanding of suffering to prepare themselves for times of difficulties and persecution that are sure to come (John 16:33). Pray for these workers to develop closer relationships with one another from which ministry can flow.

Prayer Requests:

1) Pray for a smooth flow in the member care workshop we co-host next week. Pray for the workers coming from many parts of Asia to be refreshed and equipped to facilitate care in their regions through the training.

2) Alberta is off and running on her first online course for her masters in "Ministry Care". Pray for her as she comes up to speed, studying in the digital age.
3) Pray for us as we travel to south Thailand Jan. 24-30 to participate in another annual conference, this time with workers that are coming out of Chaina. Pray for good times of debrief with these folks.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
