Practicing What We Preach

One of our oft repeated pieces of advice to overworked and stressed out Christian workers is to take periodic vacations away from their ministry to get refreshed. Nov. 3-7 we took our own advice and traveled south of Bangkok to a quiet village near the beach. It rained two of the three days we were there but that was just fine with us. We were not there to explore, hike or visit tourist sites. We get enough travel in our day job! We read books, took walks on the beach, watched some favorite movies and played some unforgettable Phase 10 games (I think Alberta wishes they were forgettable!)

The Passing of a King

As you have probably heard, the longest reigning monarch in the world, King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand passed away Oct. 13. We have just completed 30 days of mourning where most people showed their respect by wearing black. Please pray for the Thai people as they mourn the passing of their "father". Also pray for a smooth transition as the new king assumes the throne.

Other Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for us as we work together with our member care colleagues, developing a member care training to be held in Bangkok in January.
2. Pray for us as we attend Team's ministry area leaders' conference in Bangkok in early December. Developing relationships with these leaders is key to our being effective in pastoral care in their ministry areas.
3. Our financial support has dropped some this year due to changes of the financial ability of some supporters and the passing of others. Pray that we would know how to address this shortfall.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
