Overtime Student
Dear Family and Friends,
Alberta is burning the candle at both ends. By day she is taking continuing ed. units (CEUs) through the Chr. Medical and Dental Education's yearly conference for medical workers here in Chiang Mai. By night she's working on her masters course with CIU. She is a commuter student, carpooling with a female doctor that serves in a local ministry. She loves the networking and interaction with other Christian medical workers from Africa, Asia and Europe. The testimonies of overcoming hardship and loss are deeply moving.
Last night an 88 yr. old mis. doctor shared how he and his family were allowed into the country of Nep@l in the 1960s when there were very few Christians. On a recent census the government took, there were 4 choices for "your religion". Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Christian. 1.9 million people indicated they were Christian. Yet, the law on the books says that no one can change the religion passed to them through their father! If there were but few Christians as recent as the 1950s in Nep@l, who are these almost 2 million people that are registering as Christians on the census? Perhaps they are testifying to having a new (Heavenly) father through whom they obtained their Chr!stian faith! We are always encouraged to hear what God is doing in some of these difficult to reach countries.
Prayer Requests:
1. Speaking of Nep@l, we leave the 22nd to attend team's annual conference for Nep@l. Pray that God would minister through us to those who have needs.
2. Pray for Alberta in these busy weeks doing double duty on studies - CIUs during the day and her online course in the evenings.
3. Continue to pray for the girls as they both apply for schools (Krista) and placement programs for practicum (Heather).
Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
