The Thin Veneer Of Bhutan's GNH
Bhutan might be the only country in the world that marks success by its Gross National Happiness (GNH) index instead of GDP. But, as our Christian friend Raj (not his real name) shares with us, teenagers seeking relationships with the opposite sex are making poor choices and in need of godly influence.
Raj has gathered a dozen young believers in a city on the Bhutanese border with India to disciple them as followers of Jesus. He asked me and Alberta if we would teach the group how they can advise other young people in establishing healthy relationships. We set up a Zoom call but the internet was so poor in Bhutan that the dozen images on the screen kept disappearing and reappearing throughout our teaching time. Covid-19 is giving us great opportunities to promote Christian truths - now we just have to be creative in the transfer of information! We need to get the message clearly in front of Raj's disciples so they can give wise counsel to their peers. Pray for us and Raj as we work through the logistics of these technical hurdles.
Prayer Requests:
1. Praise - Krista has had a temporary job doing graphic design for a company in Atlanta through a temp agency. Pray with us that this job would become permanent. Thanks!
2. Continue to pray for Heather to be granted a long term visa for the UK. With theaters shut down she is hoping to be able to continue to pursue directing work in the theater as the virus threat fades.
3. We are working on a job description with the member care department of Bethany as member care consultants. At the same time we are developing an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with TEAM so that we will be able to continue to do projects in their member care dept. Pray that we hear from the Lord as we navigate these opportunities.
Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
