Mid-life Crisis  Calling

In August 2012 Alberta and I made our first trip to Nepal to support TEAM's cross-cultural workers. One of the team's newest members was a lady named Joelle. Joelle was an accomplished physical therapist in her early fifties who came to Christ later in life. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, she plunged into language learning like a real trooper. We had the privilege of flying with Joelle out to what would become her full time ministry assignment in the far west of Nepal.

We have stayed in touch with Joelle even after we moved back to the US and had just received a thank you from her a few weeks ago for the support we've given her over the years.

We heard  Joelle had travelled to Kathmandu two weeks ago to get a tooth looked at. She was also experiencing headaches which she thought might be related. Two doctors on staff with TEAM weren't so sure and suggested she get some tests. They and we were shocked to learn that a Pet scan found 4th stage cancer in her brain and lungs. Since there is no hospice in Nepal, she is being taken care of by TEAM's doctors and the rest of their co-workers. Joelle's family arrived last Sunday to say goodbye. God called Joelle to serve Him in Nepal and she answered that call and has  been steadfast in that call these past 10 years. She says she can't wait to meet Jesus! Pray with us that God would have His way in this family, healing past hurts and drawing the lost to Himself.

Prayer Requests

1. Praise - Heather has landed a new part-time job. She is being hired to develop a program in a community north of Glasgow that wants to combine drama and ESL (teaching English as a Second Language). Pray for Heather as she meets with the committee that is overseeing this program to understand what they would like her to accomplish. Also pray that she will be able to spend some time during the holiday season with us here in the USA!
2. Continue to pray for Alberta as she and her co-facilitators push ahead on their Equipping Women Int. training. About 4 more weeks of late Monday nights and they will wrap up their Zoom webinars.
3. Pray for me (Steve) as I juggle a number of men's groups - some are weekly, one twice a month and several contacts are monthly. Our "Lawn Crew Fellowship" is getting off to a slow start as we try and find a time that all can attend but I sense a real need to persevere.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
