Volunteering Locally

Wherever Alberta and I have lived we have purposed to engage with the local community. When we learned that our church had openings for volunteers we both stepped up. Alberta helps with the church food bank while I have been helping care for the grounds and joined a rotation of church members leading Sunday services at a nearby assisted living. These folks are so appreciative to have someone come and lead them in worship and share from the Word of God.

I could certainly have used some help leading the singing last week! Someone asked we sing the song "The Little Church in the Wildwood" and I was stumped. If you get an opportunity like this to volunteer in your community - give it some serious thought. Otherwise, you'll have folks like me out there struggling to lead the singing!

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for Heather as she develops material for her new job. She is intertwining drama and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) with 3 different age groups she is working with.
2. Pray for Alberta as she and her co-workers wrap up their Equipping Women International training online this month.
3. Pray for me (Steve) as I engage with our church's mission committee on how we assign support to organizations and individuals. Pray for unity as we seek to encourage the great commission through our church's mission giving.
4. Pray for Joelle's family and co-workers (see the story in our last  blog update) as they mourn her loss. She passed away peacefully Sunday Oct. 24th with her family and friends by her side.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
