Remembering Lowell
When Lowell and Sheri Glick graduated from Bethany, Alberta and I were just about to leave for the Philippines with our 2 month old daughter, Heather. We stayed in touch over the years and periodically overlapped on furloughs and shared stories of the Philippines and Mexico. Three years ago both we and the Glicks were planning our furloughs so we sent them our itinerary for that summer and asked if there would be a place in time where our paths would cross. Strangely and wonderfully there was! Both the Glicks and the Knudtsens were scheduled to stay at the same Servant Care hospitality home in northern Virginia at the same time! This happened to be the home of our good friends, Donni and Kyle Clifton.
Since they were traveling, we had decided to slip them some "gas money" as supporters have often done for us through the years. Just before I could sneak it into Lowell's hand he grabbed my hand and slipped a $100 bill into it saying a friend had given them a gift and he wanted to pass some of the blessing on to us! What a guy and what a God!
You may remember in our last update that we visited Lowell and Sheri a couple weeks ago. He and Sheri were at peace with whatever the outcome would be from his battle with cancer. Lowell went to be with Jesus May 19, less than two weeks after we visited him in Houston.
We have been asked to represent Bethany Gateways at Lowell's funeral so we will be driving to Peoria, Illinois June 2 to attend the memorial service. Pray for his wife, Sheri and daughters Amanda, Alicia and Adriana and the rest of their family and friends as we gather to celebrate Lowell's life.
Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for our month and a half long trip through the upper mid-west and on to Alberta, Canada which begins with Lowell's funeral June 3. We will each be leading a workshop at Bethany Gateways missionaries' retreat later in June and connecting with family and friends of our ministry along the way.
2. Pray for Heather and Krista as they are still on the hunt for lodging, Heather to rent in Glasgow and Krista to buy in Atlanta.
3. Pray for our ministry to our condo neighbors. We have had some wonderful, timely opportunities to share with those that live near us.
Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
