An Eastern Proverb on Revenge

"He who bears a grudge needs to dig two graves (one for the person he'd like to see dead and the other for himself).  In our two week member care seminar, sponsored by the Narramore Christian  Foundation (NCF), we learned that being unwilling to forgive can  take a greater toll on the offended one than the offender. This was just one of many truths that we learned as we met with 30 other member care providers from all over the world (Africa, Asia, USA, Australia, etc.). Though the NCF seminar was expensive, it was worth every Baht! We have new tools in our counseling tool box and a greater understanding of how we can be of help to Christian workers spread throughout Asia.

Marriage 2.5

I was going to call our marriage enrichment small group (see inset) "Marriage 101" but with our 25th anniversary coming up next year - maybe "Marriage 2.5" has a better ring to it:) We met with 4 other couples and the counselors that joined us from the US. Enrichment was the right word. Riches were mined from deep within each of us. Sometimes our experiences were painful to work through and sometimes they were just down right funny and we laughed together. It is wonderful to find that safe place where you can explore struggles that may have plagued you for years. God loves to heal old wounds.

Prayer Requests:

1. Steve will be speaking at a Church called "The Gathering" on Sunday, Nov. 4.

2. Alberta has a 10 day seminar with "Equipping Women Int." here in Chiang Mai Nov. 5-15. The focus is teaching adults from the Bible.

3. We have a trip to Taiwan coming up Nov. 20-29. Pray for our preparations and that hearts would be prepared for what God has for all of us during that time. We will both be sharing at an annual retreat there.
