Jesus, the Master Counselor

Those 18,000 miles we traveled this summer are fading in the rear view mirror as we settle back in to life and ministry here in Asia.

On one of our stops during our upcoming trip to China, I (Steve) have the opportunity to do some teaching at a counseling training school.

I'll be using the story of the woman at the well. It has all the marks of a text book case study in counseling. As the longest one on one conversation Jesus had with anyone in his 3+ years of ministry, it captures a counselor's attention as a model for therapy. It displays Jesus' sensitive listening skills and compassionate responses in counseling a wounded soul. From her shame and secrecy to confidence and freedom, the redemption of the Samaritan woman demonstrates  the power of grace and truth to bring health to a hurting soul.

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for our final preparations for our trip to China and safety throughout the journey.
2. Pray for good translation during teaching opportunities.
3. Pray for Steve's Dad as doctors consider options for treatment for a cracked vertebrae.
4. Pray for Heather as she finishes up a month helping her cousin and his wife with child care in California and returns to TN to pursue employment.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
