A Fairy Tale Family Vacation

It almost didn't happen! Heather and Krista's second leg of their journey to Thailand (to  'stretch their passports' international  legs') nearly derailed their plans to visit us. A freak fog and icing threat cancelled their flight from Charlotte, NC to Washington D.C., leaving them stranded at the airport late into the night. Ever the resourceful MKs (missionary kids), they decided they could make their Dubai/Bangkok flight by renting a car in Charlotte and driving through the night to Dulles airport. They arrived at their departure gate for their 10 am flight tired but happy. The adventure was going to continue!

After 36 hours of travel, they arrived in Krabi, Thailand thinking they had one more leg to fly to Chiang Mai. Dazed but not daunted, they emerged from baggage claim surprised to see their mom with a "WANTED" poster with their picture on it. Success!

Instead of one night, these Cinderellas had a week in paradise. They had a day on a long tail boat in the Andaman Sea snorkeling and traveling from island to island. Another day was spent in a rain forest, zip-lining from tree to tree. But some of the best times were long, slow breakfasts and the rip-roaring Phase 10 games. The Lord surely had His hand in our having such an idyllic and memorable time. Thank you for your prayers for our time together.

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for personal growth and useful networking connections as we attend the 2nd Global Member Care Consultation in Antalya Turkey Feb. 9-13. This is a chance for us to learn about issues Christian workers face in an increasingly hostile world and how we as pastoral care workers can help them.

2. Pray for our presentation of the member care "State of the Region in Asia" report we are preparing for our annual TEAM member care retreat Feb. 13-16, also in Turkey.

3. Pray for me and Alberta as we prepare a session on member care for TEAM's annual India/ Sri Lanka conference to be held in Bangalore, India Feb. 17-20.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
