Burning the Candle 

Dear Family and Friends, 

Chiang Mai is a strategic confluence of Christian ministries reaching out to a multitude of unreached peoples throughout SE Asia. A week after we arrived back from the US and Israel, we were asked to speak on "Sabbath Rest" to busy Christian workers reaching out to South Asians in Chiang Mai. Workers from Nepal and India, as well as resident South Asians Christians, reaching out to their unsaved South Asians brothers and sisters in Chiang Mai - joined us to consider the importance of personal rest to public ministry. 

Well meaning Christian leaders often try to burn the candle at both ends, leading to personal "burn out." This is not an attractive testimony to the people they are trying to reach! God invites us to regularly slow down and enter into a 'God centered rest'. And if we do, He promises blessing. Is there anyone out there in need of a blessing from Him? Let's honor the Sabbath rest and see what He will do!

Prayer Requests:

1. Pray for Alberta's last two weeks of her current theological course. The homework has been heavy but she's loved the class. Pray that she can get all her assignments in while we continue our ministry assignments from here in Chiang Mai.
2. Pray for Heather in her last month at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. She just finished her last major dramatic production and now has a defense to prepare and some final papers. Pray for her to know where to locate after her studies are completed. Pray for her Canadian passport application to be completed and her visa to stay in the UK to be granted. 
3. Pray for me (Steve) as I am considering taking an intensive TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course in September. It has been a desire for some time and the timing is looking like it might work for us.
