The Art of Neighboring

When we re-located to Tennessee, one of our goals was to get established in our community, both geographical and spiritual. We got a chance to broaden our relationships in our physical community just a few weeks ago. We were working in our garden out back when we heard a low labored call for help. I looked around our deck wall to see two doors down - our neighbor's legs horizontal. Alberta and I rushed over to find our neighbor had tripped on the step off her porch and couldn't get up. Alberta ended up taking Vivian to the ER when the pain wouldn't subside. It turned out she had a fracture in her tail bone. Ouch!

Since then Alberta has been checking in on Vivian regularly and found out that she has an affinity for fresh tomatoes! We also have found out that 'what goes around comes around' and Vivian makes a mean rhubarb custard crumble! More than all this food fun, we have gotten to know Vivian as a person - widowed with few family left. In the book "The Art of Neighboring" the author asks the question "do you know anything about your 8 nearest neighbors?" Hey, we are working on it - after all, we can't love our neighbors as ourselves unless we first know them! Pray for us as we get established in our neighborhood that we can bring Christ into everyday life.

Prayer Requests:

Praise: Krista has a permanent job - thank you for standing with us in this request!

1. Pray for Krista as she gets acclimated to her new position while working on completing her thesis for her masters.
2. Continue to pray for Heather as she applies for her 5 yr. visa to the UK. She's asked a number of people to give her references and she would like to see them follow through as they promised.
3. Alberta and I will begin meeting with Bethany member care personnel weekly this month. Continue to pray for our ability to fit in and serve where we can in both Bethany and TEAM.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
