Rejoicing and Weeping

You might remember a story we did back in June of 2020 about Nadim and Wanda (not their real names) who got stuck in India right after his ordination. We attended the service back in March of 2020 and just barely got back to Thailand ourselves. We have been checking in with them regularly during their year long stopover in Nagaland, helping them to process their feelings/frustrations. We had hoped to organize a surprise party for them when they returned to Chiang Mai but their 2 week quarantine in Bangkok complicated matters. The best we could do was to buy party hats and whistles and rejoice with them when they were back home!

Just this morning we got an email from Wanda that her sister has been put on hospice care, so she is making an emergency trip back to the US. We mourn with her that, after so many disappointments this past year, she and her family are now poised to say goodbye to a precious family member. Pray with us for Wanda, her sister and family, and her mom and dad. She calls it a heart-breaking trip. Pray also for her travel to go smoothly. She will return to Chiang Mai in about two weeks, just one day before her visa for Thailand expires. The timing is very tight!

Prayer Requests

Praise: Just had a wonderful week with Krista and her kitty, Luna,  visiting us here in TN. Could you pray for Krista as her kitty will be needing some pretty serious surgery and it is not easy to see your pet go through things they don't understand.

1. Pray for me and Alberta as we meet with Bethany Gateways member care dept. as we consider how to scale up care for cross cultural workers coming into Gateways. Leaders see the potential of doubling the number of overseas workers in the next 5 yrs.

2. Continue to pray for a new roommate for Heather. Her current roommate leaves in August and she would like to find a new roommate soon.

Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
