Stuck, and Getting Moving Again

 Alberta and I were teaching again this week virtually at Bethany Global University (BGU). I shared the story of the Ever Given, a huge container ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal and the herculean efforts to getting her moving again. I had my own 'running aground' experience at the ripe old age of 22 off the port of Dubai. I was captain of an offshore supply boat and ran aground on the approaches to the Dubai creek. I was quite discouraged and ready to quit when the company's marine superintendent confessed that the boat I had been hurriedly assigned to did not have up to date charts. 

I taught the BGU seniors that, like my grounding experience, we sometimes have not been given the best 'navigating tools' for life through no fault of our own. Once we recognize that we are emotionally or spiritually stuck, we may need some outside help to get moving again. My company hired a tug to pull our vessel off the sand bank and my boss jumped on a plane and came to Dubai to support me. We reminded the students that we are available to help if they are feeling stuck in some way. Or, perhaps a talk with a friend or counselor might be just what they need to get moving again. Pray for Bethany seniors as the finish up classes in the next couple of weeks and seek the Lord about their next steps. 

Prayer Requests: 

1. Pray for us as we plan to travel to Texas May 4-15 to visit Lowell and Sheri Glick, Bethany workers in Mexico. They are currently in Houston where Lowell is undergoing cancer treatment. We will also take this opportunity to visit other friends in Texas and along the way.

2. Pray for Heather as she is now looking for a job and an apartment as she was just informed that her landlord intends to sell her flat. 

3. Pray for Alberta and her co-facilitators of Equipping Women International (Entrust) as they nail down their plans for a women's retreat in Thailand Oct. 26 - Nov. 8. She has her flight booked!
