5 AM Devotions
Little did I realize that when I established devotions at 5 am in the Bethany School of Church Planting (SOCP) back in 1992, that the practice would survive the school closing and re-opening 6 years later! I had the pleasure of having two former students, Pastor Elias and Pastora Josie (on the right in the picture) join me and the 4 residential students for worship in the wee hours of the morning during our visit to Bethany Isabela. Pastor Elias and his wife Josie now pastor 4 churches in a mountainous region of eastern Luzon. They shared with the students the importance of faithfulness and determination in reaching tribal people. It takes Pastor Elias about 2 hrs. to walk into the mountains to reach the tribal churches he leads.
The 4 freshman students are young and zealous to serve God. Each shared a bit of their testimony of how God clearly called them to the school. Thanks again to those who gave donations to help renovate the school building. It's looking good! Pray for Jaymar, Pauline, Jovany and Mae as they move through their training.
Prayer Requests:
1. Continue to pray for us as we plan our two month trip out west and back home via Bethany's annual missionary retreat in Minnesota.
2. Pray for us as we prepare workshops for the retreat. Pray for the Bethany workers still in the process of deciding whether they can attend the retreat in mid-June.
3. Pray for Heather as she and others seek to bring the Shackleton story "Endurance" to the theatre in Glasgow.
Serving Christ with You, Steve and Alberta
